Gallery Attendant
Job Description:
Position Title: Gallery Attendant
Reports To: Gallery Assistant & Gallery Manager
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Hourly Rate: $15/hr
Position Summary
The Gallery Attendant serves as the welcoming face of the organization, providing an informed and friendly first impression for all visitors. As the primary customer service representative, this role manages front-line interactions both in-person and by phone, oversees retail operations and art sales, and ensures accurate, timely communication about all exhibitions, programs, and organizational activities. The Gallery Attendant supports the mission and strategic goals of the Center by helping create a positive, accessible, and engaging visitor experience.
Responsibilities
Greet all visitors in person and on the phone, offering accurate information in a friendly, welcoming manner, and thank guests for visiting the CCA
Collaborate with all gallery staff to stay knowledgeable on current exhibits, artists, and events and provide guidance to visitors as requested
Maintain a tidy and appealing appearance of retail displays and front desk areas
Run retail sales and maintain the retail inventory
Maintain daily cleanliness and organization of galleries and facility spaces
Open and close the gallery as needed based on assigned shifts
Work independently and collaboratively with the team to accomplish tasks
Attend and work exhibit receptions as scheduled by the Gallery Assistant, helping with set up and take down
Set up and take down for event rentals and work these events as scheduled
Ensure exhibit space is fully reset and cleaned before opening gallery, arrive one hour before opening on days after event
Assist with exhibition preparation activities, including organizing materials and supporting installation tasks as needed
Attend monthly staff meetings (first Monday of each month)
Maintain a personal appearance and attire that is in good taste and appropriate to community standards. CCA employees are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Assist other Center staff with administrative tasks as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by the Gallery Manager or Gallery Assistant
Required Skills & Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
Demonstrated customer service experience and professionalism
Knowledge of retail money-handling procedures
Ability to lift and carry items for event setups and logistical needs
Proficiency in Google Suite
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent work experience in retail or customer service
Experience with retail merchandising or display aesthetics
TABC Certification
Must have reliable transportation
Must be available to work Tuesday-Saturday 11:00AM-5:00PM
