“My paintings, photographs, and videos expose the realities of being in the world of sports from both the male and female perspective. Through my chosen mediums, I uncover the unrecognized realities of both athletes and women working in athletics. The paintings are carefully rendered to show the hardship and grit of the athletes, but also expose the weight of expectation and pressure that often goes unnoticed. My work focuses on the vulnerability, identity, and struggle within the world of sports. My photographs and videos capture the exertion of athletic performance and emotion that exists within the sports world. Through dramatic editing and intimate compositions, my digital media presents moments that go unrecognized. In order to create a more intimate and expressive feel, I also explore how women are perceived within the world of athletics by constructing vulnerable scenes that convey the emotional weight of feeling overlooked or diminished.”
