Jack harkins
Jack Harkins graduated from Stamford High School in 1967 and although they only had art classes at the elementary grade level, Jack was always sketching and occasionally painting. Upon graduation, he decided to study Architecture at Texas Tech University and was immersed in drawing, painting and design classes for 5 years.
After graduation, Jack was busy with work as an architectural intern, studying for the Architectural exam, and eventually becoming a registered Architect as well as managing and designing projects for Abilene Christian University, Hardin-Simmons University, Texas A&M University, Howard Payne University, Cisco College as well as the City of Abilene, Taylor County, and Abilene Independent School District and many other clients for the past 40 years. He has designed and managed a variety of projects including academic classroom buildings, performing arts centers, welcome centers, recreation centers, athletic facilities, libraries, zoo exhibits, airport projects, jails, and many other project types.
During the 80's, Jack picked up the paint brushes and began painting again for about a decade, but other time constraints caused a lapse in the art endeavor again.
Jack retired from the Architectural practice in 2017 and has been pursuing his interest in painting full time fulfilling his goal of painting at least 100 paintings per year.
