| Symbolic
Renditions by Ford Farr |
| Farr's expressive
painting style depicts unusual subjects and incorporates satirical allusions to
well-known artworks. From everything from Picasso's Blue Period, to Degas' Dancers,
Ford Farr seems to have his own versions and twists of comedy to add to our already
flourishing, artistic environment.

The Veil by
Rania Matar | |
The Center is proud to present The Veil by Rania Matar. Matars work focuses
on the Middle East, mainly women and children, and her recent projects intend
to give a voice to people who have been forgotten or misunderstood. These black
and white images of women in Lebanon wearing the veil, naturally juxtaposed with
western fashion and destruction give insight to choice and liberation through
a widely growing faith. This exhibit examines the spread of the veil and its meaning.
In Lebanon women are not forced to wear the veil, but wearing it is rapidly becoming
a decision of choice among most Muslim women young and old, modern and traditional.

| Go
Figure-ative by
The Center's Artist Members
This group exhibit features Center Artist Members and their
interpretation of the figure. The Center Artist Members designate themes for three
group exhibits each year. These themes range from quirky play-on-words-type ideas
to serious titles which allow the artists to use their media to express one central
thought. The figure is one of the most complicated subjects to capture.
Whether it's a hand or a full body in movement, an artist's interpretation of
the figure can often be a direct insight into an artist's ability and skill. This
exhibit, Go Figure-ative, allows our artists to present their various talents
in expression and encompasses their wit and creativity.

Nature, Up Close and Personal
by Mike Lanier | |
Signature Artist Member Mike Lanier's life-like paintings give us a magnified
look at animals in nature. Each of these paintings is a close study of the wonderful
occurrences in nature. Lanier's close attention to detail and incredibly realistic
painting style enhance these pieces to the extent of giving the illusion of being
outside, in nature, up close and in person.
