We offer internships
(paid and unpaid) for high school and college students in the
spring, summer and fall. We are generally able to tailor
internships to the needs of the student as we offer a variety
of programming:
* If you are interested in education, we could
devise a program for you that would include assisting with our
summer art camps or outreach programs at the city's recreation
centers. Education internships are under the guidance of Katherine
Trotter, our Education Coordinator.
* To learn more about gallery practices including
installation and lighting of exhibits, you could intern with our
Gallery Manager, Saybra
Giles.
*To gain experience in marketing and PR and
event planning (ArtWalk), you would work with Jamie
Shelburne, our Visitor Services and ArtWalk Coordinator.
If one of these areas (or a combination of
them) is of interest to you, internships may be arranged for 60
or more hours in total, and can be scheduled with a stipulated
number of hours per week. We are really quite flexible, and a
fun place to gain a variety of experience. If you are seeking
an internship as part of your college coursework, we would be
happy to complete whatever forms your university may require.
Internships for which students receive college credit are unpaid;
paid internships are available on a limited basis and pay minimum
wage.
