Mesquite Storytellers

The Mesquite Storytellers of Abilene is an affiliated guild of the Tejas Storytelling Association, a statewide organization. The guild was organized in 1993, and is a not-for-profit corporation. Its purpose is to assist its members in becoming better storytellers, and to advance the ancient art of storytelling in the local community. The membership is open to any interested adult, and currently consists of beginners, listeners, amateur and professional tellers. Visitors are always welcome.

As part of its mission, the Abilene guild participates in an annual international event called Tellabration, a public evening of stories for grown-ups that takes place evry autumn in thousands of communities worldwide. It also participates in the Texas Storytelling Festival every spring in Denton, Texas.

The Mesquite Storytellers of Abilene meets at the Center for Contemporary Arts on the third Tuesday of every month except December. The meeting time is 7:00 PM. Membership is $15 a year for an individual and $25 a year for a family.
