ArtReach,
the Center’s arts education and outreach program, serves the special needs
community including youth, elderly and mentally/physically challenged participants.
Paid Center Artist Members and instructors deliver arts programming tailored to
serve the needs of our partnering schools and social service agencies.
- Free ArtReach classes for area social service agencies for
youth, the elderly and disabled
- State-accredited professional
education workshops for area educators
- Arts enrichment
programs for area schools and partnering agencies
- Tuition-based
art classes and camps for teens and adults
The positive
impact that ArtReach has on the individual participants and agencies we serve
are evidenced by the following responses from partnering agencies: “The
major incidents in our facility have decreased as much as 65% since the therapeutic
art program was implemented…I have been at the department for 17 years,
and as Deputy Chief of Programs, I have not seen an intervention program that
has shown such positive results.” [ Ted Dawson,
Taylor County Post-Adjudication Facility] “The
healing benefits of expression through art are immeasurable, but are evidenced
in the faces and emotions of those who participate in this unique partnership.
The positive difference this has made will last a lifetime; bringing light and
hope to lives filled with violence and pain.” [ Dee
Wilson, Executive Director of Noah Project,
Inc.] “To watch children who haven’t
stopped moving for hours, suddenly allow themselves to sit, focus and engage their
imagination and creativity is truly inspiring. You do more good for these children
and our program than you may ever know.” [ Steve
Miller, Sears Park Recreation Center Coordinator] |
