ACTIVITIES AND ENTERTAINMENT
At the NCCIL, make your own Tootle Locomotive
to hang on your Christmas tree. Golden Legacy: Original Art
from 65 Years of Golden Books continues in the gallery through
January 4, 2008. Little Golden Books, now available in the NCCIL
bookstore, make very affordable stocking stuffers.
At the Grace Museum, make a Holiday
Wreath to celebrate A World of Holidays in Make It
and Take It. Make It and Take It is a free, hands-on art activity
for kids of all ages. It will be available from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.
Pianists from the Sherry Frush Music Studio will be performing
Christmas music in the Historic Lobby.
The Historic Paramount Theatre presents
The Nativity Story, at 7:30 PM. This beautiful film tells
the story of the two-year period of Mary and Josephs life,
which culminates in their leaving Nazareth and journeying 100
miles to Bethlehem for the birth of Jesus. This inpirational work
is a perfect holiday experience for the entire family. Rated PG.
Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $5 for students, seniors,
military and children.
The Center for Contemporary Arts will
host Strings Unlimited in the Breed Gallery.
Stop by the Abilene Public Library to
see Peggy Fords collecion of Santa Figures on view in the
display case.
Cockerell Galleries proudly announces
its new partnership with Abilene Christian Universitys
Art & Design Department! All are invited to attend the
Grand Opening reception during ArtWalk. The gallery will feature
the exhibit Double Vision by Jack and Jill Maxwell. Also visit
with pinhole photographer, Henry Morgan, from Ranger, TX, and
enjoy his amazing new pieces.

The Center for Contemporary Arts, 220 Cypress
St.
Jane Adams Breed Gallery: The blue exhibit features a diverse
selection of work from over 70 Center Artist Members including
works in acrylic, watercolor, photography, ceramics, glass and
more.
Gallery 2: TPS 16: The National Competition
Selections from the Texas Photographic Societys National
Competition will be on display. This exhibit features work from
photographers across the nation, and will travel to Houston, New
York City, and San Francisco.
Gallery 3: Ellison, Fairbetter, Teeters:Three
Perspectives by Russell Ellison, LaGina Fairbetter and Steve Teeters.
This collaboration showcases the work of three artists and includes
both two and three dimensional artwork.
Gallery 4: Selections from 24fps short film
+ video competition. Selections from the Paramounts independent
film festival will be shown in Gallery 4 through the end of December.
Cockerells 2nd Street Gallery and
Studios, 1133 N. 2nd St.
Cockerell Galleries is proud to announce its
Featured Artists, Nancy and Hannah Capra. Other artists will include
Ash Almonte, newcomer Jud Beall, and Guest Artist Meghan Foster.
Multi-media pieces by the group Filos will be on sale, as well
as wonderful new pieces by artist TM Gand. Photographers Doug
Hodel, S. Manski, and Jessica Natalee Templeton will be happy
to greet you as you enjoy their newest pieces. Clinical Hypnotherapist,
Christy Kahl, will be available to offer helpful suggestions as
everyone plans for the holidays.
Frontier Texas!, 625 N. 1st St.
Frontier Texas! will have a special Christmas
Exhibit that features many historical Christmas ornaments and
toys. Frontier Texas! will be open from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
The Grace Museum, 102 Cypress St.
Main Gallery: Bound for Glory: America in Color, 1939-1943. This
is the first major exhibition of the little-known color images
taken by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office
of War Information.
Second Floor: Gallery A and B - Earth + Sky:
Hellerbrand and Masteller. In Earth + Sky, photographer Nancy
Hellerbrand and painter Barry Masteller capture the wonder and
majesty of our fragile environment as the primary subject.
Gallery C - Art For the People: Depression
Era Prints From the Collection. Includes a selection of significant
prints from the 1930s curated from The Graces collection.
A selection of these prints, along with others from the collection,
will be on display in conjunction with the main gallery exhibition
Bound for Glory.
Second Floor: Childrens Museum - Come
Play and Learn in The Graces newly renovated Childrens
Museum, featuring many new exhibits that are certain to educate
and entertain!
Third Floor: History Museum - Mallouf Boot
Shop and Historic Period Rooms.
12th Armored Division Memorial Museum, 1289
N. 2nd St.
Living History Interpreters will be
dressed in 12th Armored Division WWII uniforms, and talking about
WWII weapons. Free small gifts to children inside the gift shop
donated by Vanessa Harris.
NCCIL (National Center for Childrens
Illustrated Literature), 102 Cedar
The National Center for Childrens Illustrated
Literature will feature the most extensive public showing ever
of original illustration art from American publishings best-loved
and most consequential picture-book series, Little Golden Books,
through January 4, 2008. Sixty masterpieces will be featured including
examples from such picture-books classics as The Poky Little
Puppy, Tootle, Home for a Bunny, and The Color Kittens.

Stop in to see Peggy Fords collection
of Santa figures in the display case and Debra Warrs fabulous
mural devoted to all the wonders that spring from the imagination
and the pages of childrens literature.
Bernice Landrum invites you to visit
the second floor gallery at the Windsor, located at the corner
of N. 4th and Pine Street.

In front of the Center for Contemporary Arts,
Dianne Pearce will be displaying and selling her art, Chantelle
and Leo Hare will be selling handmade mesquite and oak furniture,
and the Abilene High School Art Club will be selling pins
and magnets.
