CarWalk Thursday, June 12th from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. ArtWalk is sponsored this month

AND ENTERTAINMENT While
you're enjoying the car display, keep an ear out for live music! Catclaw Creek
will play in Minter Park, the Wylie Christian Church Praise Band will play
in Everman Park and One Dimension Shy will perform in front of Cockerell
Galleries & Studios.
STAR
Dodge-Hyundai will display three premier vehicles and provide free bottled
water for CarWalk-ers under their tent, in front of the Center for Contemporary
Arts.
There will be
a opening reception for the Center Artist Member's Group Exhibit Pie R Square
on the second level of the Center for Contemporary Arts. This show is to
pie for!
The Historic
Paramount Theatre will present a free preview of Jekyll & Hyde at
7:30 PM.
Cockerell
Galleries & Studios welcomes all to visit the newly renovated and awe-inspiring
32-foot school bus of Randy Barnes! Cockerell Galleries & Studios "upstairs"
proudly announces the grand opening of Kay Cockerell and Patty Bowdoin
in Studio 206!
Have
a CarWalk or Dino Bob photo taken at the Center's photobooth inside at the Center
for Contemporary Arts. Photos are $2.
At
Texas Star Trading Company, Robert Pace and Steve Butman
will sign copies of ABILENE LANDMARKS: An Illustrated Tour, a new book
that tells the story of Abilene through photographs and stories about its historic
buildings from 6:00-7:30 PM.
Race
to the NCCIL for CarWalk! Visitors of all ages are invited to participate
in a very special art activity and have their caricatures drawn for FREE from
6:00-7:30 PM! Don't miss this extraordinary celebration and the current NCCIL
exhibit, David Macaulay Presents: The Way We Work.
As
you stroll downtown Abilene looking at the automobiles of yesteryear, come by
the Abilene Public Library to see Russell Zachry's personal collection
of model cars. Also, stop in and see Debra Warr's fabulous original mural devoted
to all the wonders that spring from the imagination and the pages of children's
literature.
At the
Grace Museum, create a Race Car to celebrate CarWalk in Make It and Take
It, a free hands-on art activity for kids of all ages. Make It and Take It is
available from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.
Eternal
Threads will be present to talk about their organization.
Stop
in at Monks Coffee Shop for a signature drink and to see artwork by Lisa
Beacleay.
WELCOME
BACK DINO BOB AT THE FOLLOWINGLOCATIONS:
There
will be a reception honoring Dino Bob's return at the NCCIL. There will
be free Dino Bob tattoos and an opportunity for kids to submit their questions
for Dino Bob.
Cockerell
Galleries & Studios will be celebrating Dino Bob's return by selling buttons
commemorating his return to Downtown for $1.00! Proceeds benefit Dino Bob. Mrs.
Kay Loftin's (Bonham Elementary) 5th grade class will also display their renditions
of Dino Bob.

Adams Breed Gallery: Mad Syndrome by Adam Luther. Adam Luther's artistic
style engages viewers and inspires them to find the message conveyed through his
narrative-like painting.
Gallery 2: The Mortal
Part by Philip Van Keuren - Philip Van Keuren is an Art Professor at SMU who
exhibits diptychs featuring complementary images of architecture and nature.

reveals the hidden potential of natural materials.

Gallery: Knocking At the Door: an Interactive Exhibition of Design and Function,
by Ronnie Rama. You are welcome to attend an opening reception beginning at 5:00

Cockerell Galleries upstairs presents
June's Featured Artist, Heather Turner of "FILOS." She will be showing
the latest pieces of her "Live Music" series with a LIVE MUSIC performance
by One Dimension Shy outside! Come see pieces by Ash Almonte and new pieces by
our youngest artists, Brittany Bennett & Stacy Horton of "Studio Brista."
Nancy and Hannah Capra will be displaying inspirational art. Joanna Fortson of
"The Wild Paintbrush" will be sharing her faith-inspired pieces with
guests, and TM Gand will exhibit her new brightly colored pieces, as well. Samantha
Manski's world of photography is a sight to behold, as are the wedding images
displayed by Tammy Marcelain Photography. Jessica Natalee Templeton, will display
pieces that are a true expression of her amazing talents. C. Kahl's soothing studio
welcomes guests to stop by for a visit to learn about addressing tough issues
through clinical hypnotherapy.
The Grace Museum 102
Cypress St. Main Gallery: Zero to 60: Art of the
Automobile. The Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) is composed of a small
group of painters and sculptors who are automotive enthusiasts and portray various
aspects of the automobile in their fine art. AFAS was established in 1982 by six
individuals who aspired to organize the world's most prolific group of automotive
fine artists. AFAS currently has 30 members living around the globe who are dedicated
to making automotive fine art a genre that appeals to a wide range of fine art
connoisseurs.
Second Floor: Gallery A - Katrina:
The Color of Loss, Photography by Dan Burkholder. This exhibit by Dan Burkholder
brings something unique and haunting to our experience of the impact Hurricane
Katrina had on the lives of those involved. Katrina: The Color of Loss is a series
of photographs focusing on the remnants of homes and public spaces minus the former
inhabitants.
Second Floor: Galleries B and C - Made
in America: Artwork of Jaune Quick-To-See Smith. This exhibit includes more
than 30 pieces by Jaune Quick-To-See Smith, who is known around the world as an
artist, curator, lecturer, activist and spokesperson on behalf of contemporary
American Indian art. Come Play and Learn in The Grace's Children's Museum,
featuring many new exhibits that are certain to educate and entertain! Third
Floor: History Museum - Mallouf Boot Shop and Historic Rooms

Armored Division Memorial Museum 1289 N. 2nd St. Living
History Interpreters Tom Walke, Jason Pitcher and Alex Phillips will give a presentation
on WWII pistols, and Vanessa Harris has free plastic army men in the gift shop
for children.
NCCIL (National Center for Children's
Illustrated Literature) 102 Cedar St. The
Way We Work by David Macaulay - This exhibit will be open through July 26,
2008.
Frontier Texas! 625 N. 1st St. Frontier
Texas! will be open from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Receive $1 off admission all day when

AND STREET VENDORS Dream On! will offer free dream interpretations in

Stacey Henrion will be selling handmade jewelry, and Loving Threads
will be selling handmade items. In Minter Park, Jenna Jones will be giving
free five minute massage demos, Larry Cornoyer will sell original western
art prints, and PFLAG will be distributing information. In Everman Park,
the Wylie Christian Church Praise Band will be performing and selling baked
goods, and Alpha Quinn will be selling handmade horsehair jewelry and riding
accessories.
