his paw print on a canvas - Animal Services will
be sponsoring a "Paw Rest Stop" they will provide fresh water and treats
to the dogs as well as a small wade pool and flea spray!

TAKE 5 Artist Member Group Show The Center for Contemporary
Arts presents "Take Five," an exhibit by Center artist members. The
exhibit is inspired by the music of Dave Brubeck, and artist members will showcase
what the artistry of music means to them. Displayed are various types of visual
mediums including painting, photography, ceramics, installations, and others.
A documentary will be produced demonstrating the process of exhibit creation from
start to finish. Topics include the inspiration of various pieces, the process
of creating pieces, and personal stories from participating artists. This documentary
will be viewed at the Philharmonic performance of ,Ansel Adams: America"
on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Abilene Civic Center. "Take Five" will
be on exhibit in the Jane Adams Breed Gallery May and June of 2010. Gallery
3 : National Arts Program Annual Exhibition "There
is genuine artistic talent in our society that is often not publicly recognized.
The National Arts Program invites the public to a new experience " by making
visual artistic self expression both accessible and rewarding through public exhibitions
across the country." The National Arts Program was established in 1983 by
the National Arts Program Foundation. The purpose of the Program is to identify
the indigenous visual artistic talents of our nation. The funded Program works
through employees and their families of municipalities, counties, and commercial

Harmony Club of Abilene will provide a musically themed, harmonious display in
our first floor display case as they celebrate their mission of promoting community
interest in the arts, particularly music. And as you stroll downtown during ArtWalk,
you"ll also want to stop in and see APL's original mural by local artist
Debra Warr. Free. Flip Flop Workshop: Main Library Auditorium, 6:30 p.m. Time
to give your old or boring flip flops a fun new look! Bring one pair of flip flops
or sandals to decorate; we"ll provide patterns and ribbon, buttons, sequins,
stamps, beads, duct tape and other craft scraps to use. Free. Frontier
Texas! Will be open until 6:00 p.m. and will offer the dollar off admission to
anyone who asks for the ArtWalk discount. NCCIL (National
Center for Children's Illustrated Literature), 102 Cedar Street Come
to The National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature to see Why Grow Up"
by Etienne Delessert. We will also have a free family art activity from 5:30 to
8:00. You don"t want to miss it! 12th Armored Division
Memorial Museum's Living History Program presentations will be entitled, "They
Ate WHAT?!?!" and will be about field rations (Allied and Axis) used during

Floor | Form & Substance: The Art of George Tobolowsky | In 2004, Dallas artist
George Tobolowsky began seriously scouring scrap yards and realizing his dream
of a second career as an artist. Soon, he was spending his nights and weekends
welding in his sculpture studio in Mountain Springs, Texas. Rusted industrial
cast-offs are transformed in Tobolowsky's sculptures, and testify to the artist"s
keen eye for balance and love of undulating rhythms. Third
Floor | Yosemite 1938: On the Trail with Ansel Adams and Georgia O"Keeffe
| The Grace Museum presents a rare portfolio of photographs by Ansel Adams (1902-1984),
the foremost American landscape photographer. The exhibition presents a complete
folio by Adams of 42 photographs from one of only three photographic albums. The
album was produced by Adams after his 1938 trip to Yosemite with his close friends
Georgia O'Keeffe, David McAlpin, and Helen and Godfrey Rockefeller. Adams documented
the trip with landscape photographs of key locations along the route through the
High Sierra and included remarkable portraits of his illustrious camping companions

McMurry University School of Arts & Letters will be at ArtWalk promoting the
Summer Arts Institute to be held June 21-26 on the McMurry campus. McMurry University's
Summer Arts Institute is a week long program designed for serious writers and
artists who want to challenge their intellectual, artistic, and creative abilities
in a professional environment. During the 2010 Summer Arts Institute you will
be a part of a diverse cohort of students and college instructors. You will work
closely together with others to develop your intellectual, artistic, and creative
abilities through writing, mixed-media art applications, music, or dramatic activities.

Davao, about a daring escape from a brutal Japanese prison camp during World War
